Rebeca’s journey is a true short story of grit. Growing up in a family of eight children, her mother worked as a domestic servant to keep food on the table. When Rebeca was discovered at age four, the talent was undeniable, but the logistics were nearly impossible. Her mother often couldn't afford the bus fare for Rebeca to get to the gym. Instead of giving up, Rebeca and her brother would walk for two hours each way just so she could spend a few hours on the mats.

Her resilience has made her a global icon for perseverance.
